
PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN
Presbyterian Women at First Presbyterian Church of Gastonia is a vibrant community of faith where women come together to grow spiritually, serve others, and support one another through ministry, study, and prayer. Whether you are new to the church or a longtime member, there is a place for you here.
PW CIRCLES​
All women at First Presbyterian Church are invited to participate in one of several circles, some of which meet regularly for prayer, study, mission, friendship, and other activities (active circles), and other circles that support the church and community in other ways (service circles). Each circle has its own unique personality and schedule, find the one that fits your rhythm of life. Active circles typically meet monthly from September through May.

Presbyterian Women activities and functions are overseen by the Presbyterian Women’s Council, which includes a moderator, various committee chairs, and a representative from each circle.

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN'S ACTIVITIES
Presbyterian Women oversee several gatherings and other activities throughout the year.

Season kickoff dinner for all Presbyterian Women, usually introducing the bible study for the year. (August)

Annual Food Festival and Bake Sale (March) – Proceeds support Mission initiatives, study curriculum, and Presbyterian Women of the Presbytery of North Carolina.

Annual Women’s Sunday – a worship service celebrating the gifts of Women and the Girl Scout troop. (March)

The annual Birthday lunch brings together all Presbyterian Women. (May) At this lunch, women church members who have entered church triumphant are recognized, and a gift is made in their memory to the church. Additionally, one or more women may be recognized as achieving the Presbyterian Women's Life Achievement Award for service

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE

Bereavement Hospitality Services – providing a meal for the family of a deceased member before or after the funeral or memorial service.

Casserole Care – providing a frozen meal to a family where there has been illness or hospitalization.

Sewing Ministry – providing prayer shawls, knitted or crocheted items, and baby booties.

Spiritual Nurture – providing handmade booties to new babies of church members, a book to new grandchildren of church members,

College student members of the church receive gifts and encouragement from Presbyterian Women during their freshman year.

Presbyterian Women serve the church in other ways, such as volunteering for help with the Lenten lunch, bloodmobiles, etc.

Support for the Guatemala Microloan Program, assisting women entrepreneurs.

Support for Black Mountain Home for Children with auction items for their Fall Festival.

Support for Blanket Sunday offering benefiting Church World Service.

Presbyterian Women annually make cash donations to a variety of local nonprofits, especially those that support women and children and our Presbyterian Weekday School.

Individual circles may support other benevolence projects.
